Seeing Through the Darkness
In the four corners of the world, five people who have lost their sight to weapons of war reveal their singular yet shared experience of blindness. In a show of strong resilience, they navigate the world, each in their own way, learning to live with the metal fragments lodged in their bodies and the painful memories of the explosions that changed them forever. Between the images of everyday life and the depersonalized images of war, the filmmaker also immerses us in the sensory experience of their perception through exciting visual and sound experiments. Les yeux ne font pas le regard is a unique tribute to the lives of the war-wounded individuals who have been forever transformed. (SC)
